MITCHELL- Rohanda Lou Karnes, 60, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2025, at IU Health Bedford Hospital.

Born April 29, 1965, in Eklhart, she was the daughter of Bobby E. and Christine Marie (Martin) Cook.

Rohanda was a caretaker for her son, “Peeper,” for 39 years and has been lastly has been providing his care through Vertical Home Health. She loved her family and spending time with her grandkids. Rohanda was a very caring and loving person that would open her doors to anyone in need. She was always happy and funny – always making people laugh and could light up a room. Rohanda loved shopping on Temu and drinking a cherry coke.

Surviving are her children, Jerry Lee Brown, III of Mitchell, Amanda Lynn Cook of Mitchell, and Jennifer Jasmine “Bug” (Cody) Manuel of Mitchell; grandchildren, Ronny Cook, Joseph Williamlee Manuel, and Nevin Mundy; siblings, Tim Cook of Nappanee, Twila (Gary) Metz of Plymouth, Trudy Cook of Nappanee, Roy Cook of Tennessee, and Ron Cook of South Bend; and special niece, Tammy Joe.

Her parents; grandson, Tiger Karnes; and siblings, Rex Cook, Tex Cook, Ray Cook, and Roxanne Cummins, preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Cremation will follow.

Friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

    Rohanda was always a smiling face. There was nothing more important to her than her children. Always a shoulder to cry on, an ear to lend or a hand to hold. She was truly an angel in disguise to many.
