BEDFORD Russell Howard Daugherty, 95, Bedford, formerly of Mitchell, passed away at 8:20 a.m. Friday, February 20, 2009, at Bedford Regional Medical Center.
Born August 6, 1913, in Orange County, he was the son of Claude and Famie (Whittington) Daugherty. He married Lois Evelyn Allegre April 25, 1936, and she preceded him in death July 7, 1995. He married Exxie (Bolton) Bowman January 31, 1997, and she survives.
He retired from Carpenter Body Works. Russell graduated from Orleans High School in 1930 and was a member of the Davis Memorial Church of the Nazarene.

His parents; first wife, Lois Daugherty; brother, John Daugherty; sisters, Irene Craig, Ruby Taylor, and Pauline Ridpath; step son-in-law, Eugene Stotts; and two great grandchildren preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 25, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Bushey officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
Friends may call from 4:00 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Casketbearers will be grandsons.
