MITCHELL Wallace E. Wally Burton, 84, Mitchell, passed away at 9:40 a.m. Monday, April 11, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehab Center.

Born May 17, 1920, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Fred and Myrtle (Quackenbush) Burton.

He was a U. S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, past commander of Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250, and president of the Mitchell High School Class of 1939.

He was formerly employed at Carpenter Body Works and retired as an auto body repairman.

granddaughters, Lacey Burton, Mitchell
Mia Burton, Mitchell
great granddaughters, Kaitlyn Tirey and Parker Burton

His parents; half brothers, Ollie, Earl, Floyd Bus Eager, and Harley and Raymond Burton; and half sisters, Hallie Brewer, Ella Burton, Addie Anderson, Lena Davis, Ruth Smith, and Mary Neal preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Bro. Max Timbrook officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.

Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
