MITCHELLWilliam G. Goldsberry, Sr., 67, (Huron Community), passed away at 5:13 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at Bloomington Hospital.

Born May 3, 1943, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Harvey George and Mary Lucille (Burlington) Goldsberry. He married Rebecca Ann Bowden April 4, 1969.

He retired from U. S. Gypsum and was a 1962 graduate of Huron High School. He was a member of the Huron Church of God and the Board of Directors, Mitchell Masonic Lodge No. 228 F&AM, vice president of Mitchell Outdoor Sportsmens Club, and president of Port Williams Cemetery Association. For more than 30 years he had been associated with Boy Scouts of America and was a leader of Troop No. 348.

Bill retired from the Indiana National Guard with 29 years of service and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 250 and the Honor Guard.

His parents and brother, Charles Payton, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 15, at the First Church of God in Mitchell with Rev. Larry Smoot officiating. Burial will be in Port
Williams Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Indiana National Guard Ceremonial Unit, American Legion Post No. 250, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.

Friends may call from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Chastain Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the church.

Mitchell Masonic Lodge No. 228 F&AM will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p. m. Friday at the funeral home.
