MITCHELL – William Samuel Edmonson, Sr., 72, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at Stonecroft Health Campus in Bloomington.
Born April 12, 1946, in Mitchell, he was the son of Nellie Jane (Williams) Tolbert and Phillip Edmonson. He married Connie Sue Helton in 1965, and she preceded him in death March 7, 1983.
William worked for the railroad. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. William was an Independent Motorcycle Rider, and enjoyed riding motorcycles.
Survivors include his children, Elizabeth Knight of Mitchell, William Samuel Edmonson, Jr. of Mitchell, and Jenelle Brooks of Indianapolis; longtime companion, Linda Kay Longest of Mitchell; siblings, Dorothy Sanders of Pennsylvania, Kenneth Tolbert of Pennsylvania, Duane Edmonson of Mitchell, and Jeff Edmonson of Mitchell; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.
His parents; daughter, Melissa Pemberton; son, James Ritchison; grandchildren, Timothy Pemberton, Sherman Knight, and Joseph Knight; great grandchildren, Sammy Edmonson and Lochlan Cook, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 19, at Haverly Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the service Friday at the funeral chapel.
