BLOOMINGTON – Benjamin Joseph Mattingly passed away on February 6, 2024, at his home in Bloomington, Indiana at the age of 10 months.

Since birth, Benjamin had struggled with a rare heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. After undergoing multiple open heart surgeries and spending a lot of time at Riley Hospital for Children, he succumbed to the complications that arose from his condition. He was able to spend his final moments at home, being held in the arms of his parents, Tim Mattingly and Taylor Timbrook, who gently rocked him and soothed him with words of love and encouragement as he took his last breaths.

During his life, Bennie grew to be a smiley, curious, and talkative little baby boy. He loved being held, watching Mickey Mouse, playing with his toys, being read to, going on walks, and playing games with his mom, dad, grandparents, and other caretakers.

He is survived by his parents, Tim Mattingly and Taylor Timbrook. He is also survived by his grandparents, Linda Dausend, Joseph Timbrook, and Dan and Mary Mattingly.

The family will hold a small private ceremony at home. In lieu of gifts or flowers, please send donations to Colton’s Kindness via the charity’s website: coltonskindness.com

I believe Bennie was the living embodiment of unconditional love in this world. He brought a whole tribe together of people rejoicing, crying, uplifting, supporting and praying with all of their might for a miracle. The miracle is that Bennie was with us at all. Look at the impact he had in 10 months time. He will always be with us. That unconditional love has transformed us, and now we can radiate it to others. Bennie lives in us.

Dear Tim and Taylor: Your loss is devastating and I'm so very sorry for both of you. Benji was a shining beacon of happiness and love who brought smiles and giggles to many. You are very brave and tried as hard as was possible to make each moment of his life good and loving. It's impossible to understand why his time with you was so short, but try to believe he has a divine purpose to fulfill. Sending hugs and comforting wishes, Christie

Timmy & Taylor, Bennie was such a beautiful baby boy with a smile that could light up a room. Even though we only saw him through pictures and video, his personality showed through like never before. He was truly loved and you could tell. There are no words to take away the grief and pain you are feeling. We can only hope and pray that the love you have for each other will give you the strength to walk through this brokenness you are feeling. We love you both and extend our deepest sympathies for your loss. Bennie will always be remembered by all of us and we will be grateful for the love and joy he brought to you two and many others around him. Love, Uncle Timmy and Aunt Joni

Dear Taylor and Tim, As a friend of Linda, I enjoyed celebrating your love at a wedding shower and a baby shower at Linda's house. As you know, Linda shared photos and videos of Benji's life. Benji was a truly beautiful baby. And we could see he was showered with love. My heart aches for you both, for Linda, and for Tim's parents and all of the family. There were a lot of people rooting for Benji and you both! I hope your hearts will heal and you can get more joy back into your life together. Love, Catie
