WILLIAMS – Betty Jane Gore, 95, passed away Monday, May 19, 2025, at Stonebridge Health Campus.
Born July 2, 1929, in Williams, she was the daughter of Waldo Emerson and Beulah (Hobson) Spreen. Betty married Lowell Edwin Gore on May 21, 1948 and he preceded her in death March 20, 2010.
Betty was a 1947 graduate of Williams High School and attended Indianapolis Business School. She was a homemaker and worked on the farm. Betty and Lowell loved antiques, having owned and operated Persimmon Tree Antiques for 25 years. She was an avid reader, enjoyed cleaning, and was a wonderful cook. Betty was a member of the Mitchell First Baptist Church. Her family was a bright spot in her life and the most important thing to her.
Surviving are her children, Martha Lynn “Marty” (Larry) Nicol of Mitchell, Garry Lowell Gore of Williams, LuAnn Godsey of Springville, and John William (Kirsten) Gore of Bedford; grandchildren, Mark (Christina) Nicol, Kyle (Kelly) Nicol, Joe Brown, Craig (Autumn) Godsey, and Jackson Gore; nine great-grandchildren; and brother, Perry Spreen of Sarasota, Florida.
Her parents; husband; granddaughter, Melissa Robbins McCluskey; and siblings, Ben Spreen, Harold “Windy” Spreen, Margaret Armstrong, Maeda Kern, and Erma Rimmel, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 22, at the Mitchell First Baptist Church with Reverend Reggie Clark officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center and from 9:00 a.m. until the service on Thursday at the Mitchell First Baptist Church.
