ORLEANS – Carol Lee Johnson, 80, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2025, at her residence.

Born January 21, 1945, in New Albany, she was the daughter of Victor Bledsoe and Alberta (Shields) Bledsoe Napier.  She married Charles Johnson on July 1, 2007 and he survives.

Carol was a 1963 graduate of Pekin High School.  She worked as a secretary for various companies and did taxes.  Carol was a certified biblical counselor, and was a chaplain for Hoosier Uplands Hospice and co-pastored with her husband.  She enjoyed photography, travel, quilting, crocheting, Sudoku puzzles, and helping other people.  Carol was a member of the Mitchell Wesleyan Church.

Surviving are her husband, Charles Johnson of Orleans; daughter, Tina Applegate of Salem; grandchildren, Kyle (Cassie) Rose of Salem, Nicole (Brandon) Blasdel of Petersburg, and Phillip Applegate of Indianapolis; great-grandchildren, Estes Rose, Breckson Rose, and Alora Blasdel; several step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild; and sisters, Marsha Jackson of Florida and Jeanie (Gene) Lewellyn of Pekin.

Her parents and daughter, Peggine Rose, preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 9, at the Mitchell Wesleyan Church with Reverend Steve Jones and Reverend Bob England officiating.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the Wesleyan Church.

    Carol was a very special lady. She always was there for anyone that needed her most of the time even before the folks knew they needed her prayers and help. She was a special cousin and I loved her dearly!
