MITCHELL – Billy Joe Porter, 63, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2019, at Mitchell Manor.

Born December 5, 1956, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Gerald and Dorothy (Hopper) Porter.  He married Rose Marie Maple July 4, 1971.

Billy retired from Dana Corporation and attended Fishing Creek Chapel. He enjoyed working on cars, guns, hunting, fishing, and woodworking.

Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 26, at Talbott Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 -12:45 p.m. on Thursday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
