MITCHELL – David Von Woolston, Sr., 66, passed away at 11:24 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at his residence.

Born April 13, 1948, in Fort Branch, he was the son of Ennes and Ruby (Scales) Woolston. He married Carolyn S. Hodges July 2, 1966.

He owned Woolston Heating and Cooling and was a 1966 graduate of Paoli High School. He was a member of the First Church of God and a former volunteer of the Mitchell Fire Department.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 7, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Burial will be Fairview Cemetery in Orleans.

Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

    Our prayers and condolences go out to Carolyn and the rest of David's family. I still remember way back when David and I played with tractors. Being a city kid, he taught me alot about farming. I still remember the years growing up together. It was always always so cool to grow up with an uncle close to your own age. We will mis you, David! Love you Carolyn.     Dear Carolyn and Family, Our deepest sympathy while keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers. David was a wonderful uncle to me and I have nothing but fond memories of him. It was Uncle David who rounded up some of his brothers to take me on my first spatzy hunting trip. It was David who, for a short time anyway, had Doug and Bonnie convinced that Grandma and Grandpa Woolston found him under a rock. For "proof", he was able to take them to the rock! David was a good brother to my mom/his sister, Bettie. She looked forward to and cherished his frequent and loooong phone calls and his several trips to Northern Michigan with Kenny and Little David, where they stripped this part of the state of those elusive (for many of us) morel mushrooms.     I have so many happy memories from my childhood of visiting with Uncle David. He always had a way of making me feel important and special when my family would come to visit or we would see him at the Woolston family gatherings. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the family. I know that he and my father (Fred Woolston) and my son (David Allen Woolston) and many other family members who have passed on will have a great reunion time together in heaven. I can't wait for the day we will all be together again. We can not bring them back, but we can look forward to joining them one day if we keep our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

    I will greatly miss Uncle David! He was always so cheerful and happy. I remember attending the family reunions at Spring Mill State Park, as a young boy. He and my other aunts and uncles had such a blast playing volleyball, jarts, horseshoes, and washers! I can see him smiling and laughing and having a great time, even as I type this, with tears in my eyes and on my cheeks.... My thoughts and prayers are with all of you who loved him also!
