ODESSA, Texas- Doyle Dwight Henderson, 69, a beacon of strength and inspiration, left this world on June 2, 2025.

Born on May 2, 1956, in the heart of Bedford, Indiana, to Hamel and Dorothy (Wagner) Henderson, Doyle’s journey through life was a testament to his adventurous spirit and generous heart. He departed from Odessa, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the indelible mark of a life well-lived.

Doyle, as he was affectionately known by his friends and family, embraced life with the kind of enthusiasm that was both contagious and uplifting. He was a proud graduate of Mitchell High School, class of 1974. After graduation, he mastered his skills in the trades. Setting the stage for a remarkable 40 year career as a Journeyman Electrician. His commitment to his craft was reflected in his long-standing membership with the IBEW of Amarillo, where he not only excelled in his work but also formed lifelong friendships and connections that would stand the test of time.

Doyle’s dedication to service extended beyond his professional life, as Doyle also served with honor in the National Guard for six years. His brothers in arms knew him as a man of integrity, always ready to lend a helping hand and share a word of encouragement. Doyle’s zest for life shone brightly in his personal interests.

Traveling was another of Doyle’s pleasures, often spurred by his work, but always embraced with open arms. He saw every new place as an opportunity for adventure, a chance to meet new people, and to collect stories that he would later share with his beloved daughter, siblings, and other family members. Those who knew Doyle would describe him as thoughtful, always considering the needs and feelings of others before his own.

Surviving are his daughter, Cayla Henderson of Odessa, Texas, who held a special place in his heart; his partner in life, Tami Henderson, who helped co-parent their beautiful daughter into a young lady; his siblings, Jerry (Linda) Henderson of Bedford, Wayne Henderson of Bedford, Raymond (Anna) Henderson of Mitchell, Brenda Diehl of Mitchell, and Linda (Donnie) Dunn of Mitchell; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunt.

His parents; and brothers, Thomas Henderson, Lester Henderson, Lloyd Henderson, Allen Henderson, and Frank Grey, preceded him in death.

Cremation was chosen. Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 17 in Mitchell Cemetery with Brother Jim Russell officiating. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
