INDIANAPOLIS – Jessica Layne Daugherty, 29, passed away Friday, January 2, 2015, at her residence.

Born August 20, 1985, in Bloomington, she was the daughter of Kevin and Rita (Box) Daugherty. 

Jessica was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.

Surviving:        parents, Kevin and Rita Daugherty, Indianapolis
                        finace’, Brian Leach, Indianapolis
                          sister, Kaytlin A. Daugherty, Indianapolis
                   half sister, Sara Langley, Owensburg
              grandparents, Roy and Roberta Box, Williams
                                   David and Gretna Daugherty, Mitchell
                                   several aunts, uncles, and cousins

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Tony Hansen officiating.  Burial will be in Lawrenceport Cemetery.

Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

    My heart is saddened by the loss of such a young girl. To the parents, loosing a daughter so unexpectedly, will be the most difficult thing you will endure in this life. I knew Jessica briefly through the relationship she had with Brian. She also helped me with taking photos of homes and writing descriptions. She was amazing with photos! Brian, I am truly sorry for your loss as well. I know how very much Jessica means to you. May God give you strength through your grieving process and wrap his love around you all!

    I just want the family to know they raised a beautiful and sweet woman. I know I only got to know her for a short time but she was always willing to put a helping hand to anyone that needed it at work. I really miss seeing her there. She passed by me recently and I had told her you have beautiful hair. It was swaying back and forth as she passed me. I am sorry for your loss.

    I remember her biography in speech class like it was yesterday. She talked about how she had been born a premie, and ever since then I've always seen her with a fighting strong spirit...I just saw her recently at work and she looked great. Keeping her family and loved ones in my prayers.
