My condolences to Mel’s family, friends, and her work family. I am so sorry and saddened I missed the viewing today...I checked on WBIW but there was nothing about Mel so I thought maybe it was going to be at a later time. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. ❤

I loved working with and around Mel. She always had a smile on her face and something funny to tell you. I still remember waking up one morning at the old Ellettsville fire station to find her new mustang submerged in flood waters, Mel looked at me, smiled and said "oh well". She never let things get her down and always had an upbeat look on life. She will be GREATLY missed by all. God bless you Mel.

Melanie, I had the pleasure of working alongside you, both on the street and through dispatch. You were the first face I saw the night of my heart attack. At that moment, I knew I was in good hands. Now you are in good hands. Rest in peace and God be with you, my friend.

Melanie will be missed by many. I sorry I didn't spend time with her as we got older. I lost my boyfriends, who is now my husband, class ring, down by the barn while riding her horse for her because she was afraid of it. Taught her to ride a bike. She was a great cousin.

Melanie was the best Sister in-law on could ever want, she was a best friend always, no matter the situation. She had a heart as big as all outdoors. I'm relieved for her that she is no longer struggling and in pain. Her laughter will never be forgotten as will her loving smile and humor. I love you always & will see you again on that beautiful shore. Your Seeeeester Sheila
