MITCHELL – Ronald Lee Owen, 81, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.

Born October 3, 1942, in Washington, Indiana, he was the son of William Prentiss and Frieda Mae (Cannon) Owen. He married Beverly Lish on January 13, 1979 and she survives.

Ronald was a 1960 graduate of Paoli High School. He retired from Paoli, Inc. as a foreman. Ronald loved attending sporting events, and was an avid golfer and bowler. He was a member of the Paoli Bowling League and the Old Men’s Golf Scramble Club. Ronald was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bedford. He liked to travel, enjoyed going to the Orleans Farmer’s Market, and singing in the church choir. Everyone knew him for his love of funny hats.

Surviving are his: wife, Beverly Owen of Mitchell; children, Lisa (Doug) Kirby of Paoli, Jennifer (José Jacquez) Pinnick of Highland, Seth Pinnick of Evansville, and Allison Pinnick of New Harmony; grandchildren, Liz (Todd) Combs of Salem, Ryan Owen of Paoli, and Austin Owen of Paoli; great-grandchildren, Ryder, Cruz, and Briggs, all of Salem; siblings, Robert (Diana) Owen of Huntingburg, Judy Chandler of Riley, and Ellen (Lonnie) Chapman of Birdseye; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

His parents; son, Larry Owen; and brother-in-law, Terry Chandler, preceded him in death.

Memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 5, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Judi Early officiating.

The family will receive friends from noon until the service on Friday at the funeral home.
