ORLEANS – Roy Wayne Wood, 81, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024, at his residence.
Born June 30, 1942, in Mitchell, he was the son of Chester and Rosa Nell (Chastain) Wood. He married Nancy Goodpaster on July 19, 1977 and she survives.
Roy graduated from Mitchell High School in 1960. He was a truck driver for most of his career and had been a driver for various trucking companies. Roy greatly enjoyed attending toy tractor shows and collecting Hot Wheels in his spare time. He was a member of the Orleans First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Wood of Orleans; children, Mike Wood of French Lick, Clyde Kellams of Orleans, and Amy (Darren) Norrington of Mitchell; grandchildren, Tiffany Wood of French Lick, Andrew Norrington of Mitchell, and Ian Norrington of Mitchell; three great grandchildren; and siblings, Charlene Stromatt of Norman, and Carey (Debbie) Wood of Mitchell.
His parents; daughter, Julie Marie Wood; and grandson, Matthew Kellams, preceded him in death.
Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, at Talbott Cemetery, with Bro. Larry Chastain officiating.
