MITCHELL – Samuel Gene Tuell, 70, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2025, at his residence.

Born October 18, 1954, in French Lick, he was the son of Maurice Gene and Etta Marie (Maddox) Tuell.  He married Rachel Jane Hudson on April 12, 2009 and she survives.

Samuel worked as a semi-truck driver and as a semi mechanic, which he loved.  He attended the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Samuel enjoyed playing guitar and was an outdoorsman.  He was a very loving person.

Surviving are his wife, Rachel Jane Hudson of Mitchell; children, Florence Huddleston of Kentucky, Christopher Tuell of Kentucky, Samuel Tuell of Corydon, Joseph Tuell of Corydon, Kirsten Ayers of Mitchell, and Dakota Tuell of Mitchell; several grandchildren; siblings, Sharon Ruth Terry of Mitchell, Charles E. Tuell of Orleans, Kenneth Eugene Tuell of French Lick, Marvin Leon Tuell of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, and Paul Eric Tuell of English.

His parents preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Brother Lane Lackey officiating.  Cremation to follow.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

    I knew him back when he was married to my cousin and when they had their little girl and I had a different last name but he is a really good guy really good friends he is going to really be loved and missed if I needed him to talk to all I had to do was get a hold of him he would sit down and talk to me and if anyone bothered me her upset me he would get on to them he wouldn't say anything bad he would say hey leave my sister alone that's all he would say but he was such a good good friend so he's going to be loved and sadly missed her rip Samuel from your sis Regina Schoolcraft forever

    He was my father, we didn't have the greatest relationship due to unagreeable life choices, but he was still half of my being and existence.
