BEDFORD – Chris Alan Manning, 48, passed away Sunday morning, August 14, 2016, at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.

Born September 16, 1967, in Bedford, He was the son of Ernest Gene and Gloria Gail (Nickless) Manning.  He married Kimberly Brook White June 5, 2004.

Chris was a graduate of Bedford High School and a member of the Order of the Moose  Lodge No. 689.  He was an avid racing and baseball fan, and loved watching his kids play ball.

His father, Ernest Gene Manning; and grandparents, Ruth and Herschel Nickless, and Robert and Margaret Manning, preceded him in death.

Cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Ronnie McLain officiating.

Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

    Although I did not personally know Chris, his mother Gail was a good friend from high school. I was in Gail and Gene's wedding and knew them well. I know how difficult it is to lose someone so young. KW and I want to extend our deepest sympathy and love to his family.

    I did not know Chris but I had worked with his dad, Gene and gone to school with Gail. I lost my daughter (only child) two years ago at age 45, so Chris is close to her age. My heart goes out to all his family in their loss and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I am so sorry for your loss.
