MITCHELL – Agatha G. (McPherson) Merry, 91, our beloved mother, passed away at 4:32 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2019, at Mitchell Manor Nursing Center.

Born May 9, 1927, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Henry and Ida (Burton) McPherson.  Claude Rayhill was the father of her children.

Agatha was a homemaker and a member of Woodville Baptist Church.  She graduated from Mitchell High School in 1946.  Agatha was a member of Mitchell Senior Citizens and loved to dance.  She loved life and her family, and always had a smile.

 Her parents; siblings, Emmett McPherson, Leland McPherson, Burton McPherson,  Lorena Eversole, Rowana Thompson, Faye Chastain, and Kathryn Parks, preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 23, at Woodville Baptist Church with Reverend Glenn Hamer and Brother Jim Russell officiating.  Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center and from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the church.

    My memory, a lifetime of reunions, shared holidays and a hundred birthdays. A family of 8, growing up between two world wars and a depression. Every child became a loving parent and had a positive influence on those around them, living generously, sharing joy. Gatie was the last, they all are missed.
