BEDFORD – Anita Mayhugh, 79, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021, at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital from complications due to COVID and pneumonia.
Born February 11, 1941, in Danville, Kentucky, she was the only child of Reverend Mark and Louise (Loyd) Hamilton. Anita married Chuck Mayhugh in 1961, and they lived in Colorado prior to Anita moving to Bedford, Indiana to care for her parents.
Preceding her in death is her father, Mark Hamilton in 2003, and her mother, Louise Hamilton, just a few months ago, on September 11, 2020.
Anita is survived by her daughters, Chiquita (Mark) Evert and Marquita (Ben) Romero; grandchildren, Kathy (Joey) Anguiano of Fort Collins, Colorado, Tori (Will) Mckechnie of Windsor, Colorado, Nikki (Ray) Ortiz of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Devyn Ewert of Prior Lake, Minnesota, and Trevor Ewert of Prior Lake, Minnesota. She is survived by great-grandsons, Dylan Romero, Izais Anguiano and Westin Mckechnie.
Anita will be deeply missed by all who knew her and she will forever be in our hearts. A special thank you to the staff at IU Paoli, IU Bedford, and IU Bloomington Hospitals for taking excellent care of her and also extending compassion to her daughters in this difficult time.
Due to COVID, a memorial service will be held at a later date when it is safe for us to gather.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 4, at Mitchell Cemetery. Pastors Ken Bushey, Duane Brown, and Reno Bates will officiate. Her daughters, Chiquita Ewert and Marquita Romero, will do the eulogy. A reception and luncheon will follow at the Momentum Community Church.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Friday at the cemetery.
