MITCHELL – Avon Mansel Eisele, Jr., 74, passed away Monday, September 15, 2025, at Timbers of Jasper.

Born March 31, 1951, in Bedford, Indiana, he was the son of Avon Sr. and Stella Marie (Dotts) Eisele.

Avon graduated from Mitchell High School in 1969, worked in construction, and proudly served two years in Germany as a U.S. Army Veteran. He had a passion for cooking, loved dancing to his favorite country music, and was a devoted IU basketball fan. Avon cherished time with his grandchildren, enjoyed fishing, and rarely missed a trip to the races—especially when it came with a cold beer in hand.

Surviving are his children, Easter Eisele of Bedford; Leandra (Bobby) Buechler of Orleans; Deanna Owens of Princeton; Angie Johnson of Griffith; Christine Willis of Smithgrove, KY; Mark (Victoria) Evans of Lyles, TN, 10 grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren; siblings, Max Eisele of Mitchell, Avonelle (Jerry) Lake of Mitchell, and Louise (Stanley) Fullen of Fayetteville; loving partner of 31 years, Margaret Ann of Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents and siblings, Scott Eisele, Barbara (Bobbi Jo) Strunk, and Gary (Steve) Eisele, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 19, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Byron Buker officiating.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.

So many memories. I have lost all 3 of my brothers in the past 21 months. Each one special to me in their own way. He was a good big brother. I remember growing up he was in charge of watching us and taught us all how to cook and clean. I love you Jr. Go rest high on that mountain.
