MITCHELL – Betty J. Blanton, 78, passed away at 12:59 a.m. Sunday, November 4, 2012, at IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington.

Born June 8, 1934, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Elmer Harold and Elma (Terrell) Terry. She married Carl O. “Red Bird” Blanton July 28, 1951, and he preceded her in death December 8, 2006.

She was a homemaker and a member of Bonds Chapel United Methodist Church.

Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 7, at Bonds Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Robert Martindale officiating.

Friends may call from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
