HURON – Betty Jean Irwin, 86, passed away at 5:05 a.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2013, at her residence.
Born August 3, 1927, in Salem, she was the daughter of Ralph Henry and Effie Viola (Morris) Chastain. She married Clarence Volney Irwin, November 30, 1945, and he preceded her in death April 30, 2003.
Betty retired from RCA with 25 years of service. She was a member of the Huron Baptist Church and the Mission Circle.

Her parents; infant son, Larry Irwin; siblings, James Chastain, Robert Chastain, Charles Chastain, and Mary Catherine Trueblood; granddaughter, Alice Jean Irwin; grandson, Clarence Edward Irwin, Jr.; and great granddaughter, Ashley Sanders, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 10, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Rev. Ron Allender officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Salem.
Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday and from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
