MITCHELL – Betty Lavon Edwards, 92, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020, at The Waters of Greencastle.

Born August 6, 1928, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of William Roscoe and Ruby Rebecca (Price) Baldwin. 

She was a 1946 graduate of Mitchell High School.  Betty married Ernest Rice Edwards February 7, 1948, and he preceded her in death September 21, 1988.

Betty retired from Trav-Ler Radio Corporation/Essex and had a realtor license.     She was a member of Spice Valley Baptist Church.  Betty served many years as a volunteer at Mitchell Manor, and on January 20, 2000, she was honored with the Greater Mitchell Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year Award.

Her parents; husband; and children, Monte D. Edwards (February 2, 2013), Martin D. Edwards (February 13, 2013), daughter, Debra A. Crane (October 16, 1999); and siblings, William Robert Baldwin, Catherine Thompson, and Donald L. Baldwin,  preceded her in death.

Graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 28, at Mitchell Cemetery with Reverend Lewis Williams officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

    Chris sorry for your lost. Betty was a beautiful soul. She loved life and family. Thank you for making a pleasant last few years for her. I know she had a lot of respect and love for you.
