MITCHELL – Carlos Irvin “Shorty” York, 87, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2025, at his residence.

Born November 5, 1937, in Burkesville, Kentucky, he was the son of Marvin and Rosa Bell (Corbin) York.  He married Edna Mae Emberton on October 17, 1957, and she preceded him in death October 4, 2024.

Carlos retired from Regal-Beloit after 25 years.  He and his wife owned Edna’s Pizza and served the Lawrence County community for 32 years.

Surviving are his children, Barbara Sue York of Mitchell, Linda Kay Brown of Mitchell, and Michael Irvin (Elaine) York of Palmyra; grandchildren, Tygr (Ace) Northup, Christopher Michael (Trinka) York, Isaac (Sanna) Brown, and Sarah Beth Lee; several great-grandchildren; and brother, Joe York of Bedford.

His parents; wife, Edna Mae York; a child in infancy; and siblings, Pauline Faran, Sellie York, Eugene York, Homer York, and Fayette York, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Pastor Deb Doyle officiating.  Burial will be at Mitchell Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

    I am praying for the family I worked with Shorty at Regal Beloit and always ordered pizza from Ednas they were the best and always had a smile

    Shorty was a Great guy. A little quiet at times. I worked with him for several years at Regal Beloit in Mitchell. He will be missed. R I P Shorty.
