MITCHELL – Cathy Lynn Bex, 64, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Deaconess Memorial Medical Center in Jasper.

Born April 1, 1961, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Ira E. and Virginia R. (Ritchison) Bex.

Cathy was a 1979 graduate of Mitchell High School.  She loved going to the Fairview Church of Christ and helped to teach Sunday School for many years.  Cathy enjoyed crafting, and the highlight of her life was sending and receiving greeting cards.

Surviving are her aunt, Velma Padgett of Florence, South Carolina; uncle, Robert “Bob” Ritchison of Mitchell; and several cousins.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 16, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Brother Kris Beasley officiating.  Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 15, and from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Friday at the funeral home.

    To the Family, sorry to see this. I knew her from years ago when I would bring lumber from the Crawford Morris Labor Company to her and her father at their home. BOTH were just super nice and polite. Prayers to all, God Bless You.
