MITCHELL – Carol Ann Phillips, 64, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2026, at her residence.

Born October 1, 1961, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Francis “Frank” Merry and Mildred (Ball) Henderson.  She married Gordon Phillips on June 14, 1980, and he survives.

Carol was a 1979 graduate of Mitchell High School and was a school bus driver for Mitchell Community Schools.  She attended The Bride of Christ Fellowship in Mitchell and was an avid Bible reader.  Carol loved crocheting, baking, sewing, scrapbooking, doing puzzles, and hosting get-togethers with family and friends.  She loved being “Mimi” and was happiest surrounded by family – with a cold Diet Coke.

Surviving are her husband, Gordon Phillips of Mitchell; children, Tyler (Kelsey) Phillips of Franklin and Taylor (Holly) Phillips of Springville; grandchildren, Barren Phillips, Charlee Hemmerlein, and Harper Hemmerlein; mother, Mildred Henderson of Mitchell; twin sister, Connie (Earl) Wilson of French Lick; sisters, Pam Bex of Mitchell and Debbie (Kurt) Hutchinson of Bedford; and many nieces and nephews.

Her father and brother, Rick Merry, preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 10, at The Bride of Christ Fellowship in Mitchell with Brother Greg Isom officiating.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the church.
