MITCHELL – Charles Henry Ball, 86, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Paoli Health and Living Community.

Born December 11, 1936, in Mitchell, he was the son of John Harrison and Minnie Ethel (Pipher) Ball.  He married Rose Mary Winegar on December 27, 1954 and she survives.  They were together for seventy years.

Henry retired from General Motors, working in die cast operations.  He attended the Mitchell Church of the Nazarene.  Henry loved his grandchildren.  He was a strong Christian man and a great husband, father, and grandfather.

Surviving are his wife, Rose Mary Ball of Mitchell; son, Charles “Mike” Ball of Mitchell; siblings, James Walter Ball of Smithville, Ronald Ball of Indianapolis, and Mildred Lavere Henderson of Mitchell; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

His parents; daughter, Sherry Pless; and siblings, John Earnest Ball, Leon Ball, Lavonne Callahan, Mary Louise Williams, and Kenneth Eugene Ball, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Reverend Jerry Richardson officiating.  Burial will be at Mitchell Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
