MITCHELL – Charles Robert Parks II, 70, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2020, as he laid peacefully in his home.

Born May 16, 1949, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Charles Robert and Kathryn A. (McPherson) Parks.  He was married to Tammy L. Catozzi Parks for 41 years.

Charlie Bob was a farmer and owner of Parks Implement Sales.  He was a 1967 graduate of Mitchell High School, attended Indiana State University, and Louisville School of Electronics.  Charlie Bob learned to love farming from his dad and continued to farm throughout his life.  Never once losing passion for the craft he honed for 50 years.  He was also a business man, owner of Parks Implement and Grain.  He successfully ran the businesses by maintaining long lasting relationships in the community and honoring the old adage tradition of keeping his word.  His generosity was far reaching as he contributed to a number of local organizations and always believed in helping others.  He was proud of his daughter who went on to be a physician and never grew tired of introducing her as such.

Tammy Parks of Mitchell
Jodi Parks, M. D. of Mitchell
Vickie (Ken) Lee of Mitchell

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, in the Memorial Chapel of the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Dwight Dunbar officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

How fortunate I am to have known Charlie... A union that produced our beautiful, kind, and accomplished daughter, Jodi Allen Parks. As a young girl and throughout my life, the love and support I received from him and his late parents, Bob and Kathryn Parks will forever be in my heart.

To Charlie Bob’s family, I am truly sorry for your loss and grief. Charlie Bob was a good man who loved his family, loved his farm, knew how to be a good friend and lived his life on his own terms. The Scripture says, “ I am going there to prepare a place for you.” I just know Charlie Bob’s place has open fields with soil as rich as he’s ever plowed. I’m sure he’s thrilled with the joys of heaven! I pray that God heal the broken hearted, as he promises to do, so that all remember Charlie Bob with the many wonderful memories he shared. I believe Tammy that God is tenderly walking beside you throughout this painful time. Much love ❤ Debbie Smith San Diego, CA

Charlie Bob was a good friend and a great cousin to me. When we drove from Washington to Indiana in 1966 for a long visit, my brother and I hung out with Charlie Bob quite a bit. We had fun times at Spring Mill State Park, the local Dairy Queen, and just goofing around. When I drove back for my dad’s funeral in 2018, Charlie Bob took the time to show me all around again, and was very good to me. That’s how I’ll remember him – as a good person and a fun cousin! Rest in peace, Charlie. I’ll be praying for you and your family.
