BEDFORD Charles Charlie Turner, Jr., 49, Bedford, passed away at 12:45 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2009, at his residence.
Born December 2, 1959, in Bedford, he was the son of Charles and Karen Josephine (Tuddy) Turner, Sr.
He worked in the Kentucky coal mines in his earlier years and traveled laying asphalt before starting his own business, C&R Flooring, until becoming unable to work due to his illness. He loved NASCAR, basketball, football.
When traveling, he was sure to tell anyone he met about what the Lord had done for him. He was a true miracle. He survived a coal mining accident. He was shot five times in the chest with a high powered rifle, and walked out of the University of Kentucky Hospital in only eight days with a plastic windpipe. He survived two strokes, kidney failure, and four heart attacks before being called home. He had been a dialysis patient for nearly one year.
