MITCHELL Clarissie “Granny” Carroll, 102, Mitchell, passed away at 3:26 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2008, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center.
Born November 19, 1905, in Sandborn, she was the daughter of Charles O. and Flaura Belle (Hancock) Hagemier. She married Clinton Henry Carroll August 12, 1923, and he preceded her in death January 18, 1975.
From 1950-1970 she was a watchman at the Georgia Fire Tower. Granny farmed along side her husband, driving a team of horses and later tractors. She was a member of Spice Valley Baptist Church and for many years was a teacher of the Busy Bees Sunday School class. She wrote stories for children, wonderful prose for all ages, and poetry of unusual depth that touches the hearts and minds of all who hear it. A beautiful life well spent.

Her parents; husband; daughter, Flaura Jane “June” Dumond; son, Wallace Clinton Carroll; grandsons, Harry “Butch” Dorsett and James Leroy Dumond; brothers, Oscar Hagemier and Earl Hagemier; sisters, Debbie Knight, Georgia Myers, and Nellie Needhammer; and half brothers, Lonnie Tolbert and Harry Tolbert, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 11, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Brown and Rev. Allen Colwell officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday and from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Monday the funeral home.
