MITCHELL – Danny Alan Pemberton, 74, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.

Born June 28, 1949, in Bedford, he was the son of Winfred J. “Wink” and Juanita M. (Tow) Pemberton.  He married Jonna Dale Ely on June 8, 1968 and she survives.

Danny was a 1967 graduate of Mitchell High School and retired from General Motors.  He was a member of the Paoli Masonic Lodge No. 119 F.&A.M., The Sons of American Legion Post No. 250, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107 Auxiliary.  Danny enjoyed woodworking, riding his motorcycle, and shooting guns.  His granddaughters were his world and he loved spending time with them.

Surviving are his wife, Jonna Dale Pemberton of Mitchell; children, Lisa Dawn Fish of Mitchell and Alan Wayne Pemberton of Mitchell; grandchildren, Abby Danielle Fish, Alexandra “Ally” Dawn Fish, Ashlyn River Pemberton, and Marcus Donald Fish; great-granddaughter, Brynlee Michaela Fish; and his beloved dog, Annie.

His parents; granddaughter, Anna Renae Fish; brother, Steven Pemberton; and in-laws, James and Mary Ely, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 28, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Dwight Dunbar officiating.  Burial will be at Mitchell Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
