MITCHELL David L. Nolan, CPA, 54, Mitchell, passed away at 5:08 a.m. Sunday, March 27, 2011, at Bloomington Hospital.

Born December 16, 1956, in Bedford, he was the son of Donald E. and Hilda (Tyree) Nolan.

He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1974 and Indiana University Southeast in 1979. He established his accounting business in 1982 and was very active in the Mitchell Community. He was currently serving as the president of the Greater Mitchell Chamber of Commerce and had been director of the organization for 12 years. He was past chairman of the 1984 and 1996 Persimmon Festivals, served as parade chairman five years and in 2006 was honored as Grand Marshal; he has devoted more than 30 years as a tireless volunteer to the festival. He was honored as Volunteer of the Year in 1997 and Citizen of the Year in 2007.

Dave was a State Commissioner of the Indiana Amateur Softball Association, enjoyed sports and had attended every baseball stadium in the United States. He served on the Board of Directors at Mid-Southern Bank, was past president of the Mitchell Rotary Club and served more than 17 years as treasurer of the Dunn Memorial Hospital Board.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 31, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Brother Max Timbrook officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.

Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
