MITCHELL David Laverne Grissom, 58, Mitchell, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2011, at his residence.

Born December 8, 1952, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Herbert Laverne and Barbara Ann (Cooper) Grissom.

He had been employed at Visteon and was a member of IEW No. 907. David graduated in 1971 from Mitchell High School, and was a member of the Bedford Boat and Sportsmens Club. He was a veteran of the Indiana National Guard.

Celebration of Life service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 27, at the Mitchell Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Mark Bechtel officiating.

    Dave was a good friend with a great soul. Hard to find ones that are always positive and are glad to see you. I loved to watch him hit a golf ball, lots of power in a little package. He will be missed.

    I remember David from the days of riding on my dad's school bus. the Grissom kids were alwasy well thought of. Just nice, sweet kids. Many fun and fond memories. sorry to hear of his passing.

    So many memories and good times with David over the years....softball, volleyball, holidays....dinners, ChiChi's....he was a good friend he told the truth and gave his opinion whether we wanted to hear it or not....taught me how to drive a 5-speed, he and Barb were there for me on many occations... he was a good friend
