MITCHELL – Dick Williams, 87, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born January 8, 1929, in Bedford, he was the son of Herbert and Lottie (Roberts) Williams.  He married Bettie J. Williams July 10, 1948.

Dick was a proud ironworker that assisted in the construction of the RCA Dome and several buildings at Indiana University, to include the library and stadium.  Despite falling from several buildings, he managed to retire with more than 20 years in the profession.  He was best known to his friends as “Dickey-Do.”  

Dick was a 1948 graduate of Needmore High School.  He was a member of Mitchell Masonic Lodge No. 228 F&AM, Nur Shrine and past exalted ruler of Elks Lodge 484 in New Castle, and Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis.  Dick was a member of the First Christian Church.

His parents; son, Richard Douglas “Doug” Williams, granddaughter, Mary Jo Grant; and siblings, Bob Williams, Art Williams, Nancy Williams, and Dorothy Hatfield, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 13, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Reverend Jim Hatfield officiating. Cremation will follow.

Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
