SALEM – Bruce Perdiew, 73, Salem, passed away at 6:25 p.m. Sunday, February 11, at Washington County Memorial Hospital, Salem.

Born April 3, 1933, on a farm four miles north of Campbellsburg, Indiana, he was the son of Walter and Edith (Lawyer) Perdiew. He married Anita Bagshaw March 23, 1991.

He attended the one room school at Clifty and graduated from Campbellsburg High School in 1951. He graduated from Acme Institute of Technology in Dayton, Ohio, majoring in industrial engineering. He worked for Chrysler Corporation in industrial engineering and rose to an executive grade under Lee Iacocca. He was in charge of major cost reduction projects such as robotic assembly lines, etc. He retired in 1987 from Chrysler Corporation in Huntsville, Alabama after 28 years of service.

He served six years in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Air Force Sergeants Association, Disabled American Veterans, and Blinded Veterans Association.

Bruce was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Campbellsburg, Rob Morris Masonic Lodge No. 282, Washington County Past Masters Association, Scottish Rite of Toledo, Ohio, Murat Shrine in Indianapolis, Salem Chapter No. 286 Order of Eastern Star, and Gideons International.

His parents; sisters, infant Lois, Gertie Baker, and Mary Sullivan; brother, Lee Perdiew; and one stepdaughter preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 17, in the First Baptist Church at Campbellsburg with Rev. Mike Williams and Bro. Robert Holler officiating. A Gideon Memorial Service will follow the funeral at the church. Burial will be in Hop Cemetery with military honors accorded by Patton-Chastain American Legion Post.

Friends may call from 4:00-9:00 p.m. Friday at Chastain Funeral Home in Mitchell, and from 9:00 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the church.

Rob Morris Masonic Lodge No. 282 will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
