McCordsville – Earl E. “Jim” Houchin, 81, McCordsville, formerly of Mitchell, passed away at 3:45 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2005, at his residence.

Born October 3, 1923, in Mitchell, he was the son of Andrew and Ruby F. (Roof) Houchin. He married Jeanne Fulk July 17, 1951, and she survives.

He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and was the recipient of two Bronze Stars while serving in Europe. He was a member of Oaklandon Christian Church.

sister, Wanda Stigall, Bedford
several nieces, nephews, and many friends

His parents; son, Robert Earl Houchin; brothers, Paul, Clyde Kenneth E., Charles O., and Max Houchin; and sisters, Lula Grogan, Pearl Grissom, Clorine Sanders, and Maxine Taflinger, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Reverend Daniel Asche officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.

Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. Tuesday until the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
