BEDFORD — Elmer R. “Bud” Belcher, 88, Bedford, passed away at 9:50 p.m. Sunday, January 30, 2011, at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital in Bedford.

Born March 12, 1922, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Sherman and Naomi (Fry) Belcher. He married Barbara Jane Baughman September 23, 1941, and she preceded him in death April 27, 2010.

He retired from General Motors Powertrain after 31 years.

Elmer was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.

His parents; wife; son, Jerry Lee Belcher; and daughter, Donna Kay Hall, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 4, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Hight officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.

Friends may call from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday and from noon until the service on Friday at the funeral home.
