MITCHELL – Ermal Dean Cottengaim, 77, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital.

Born December 19, 1945, in Mitchell, he was the son of Jasper and Agnew (Bex) Cottengaim.  He married Patricia Cook in May of 1983.

He worked for CSX Transportation for 34 years repairing rail road tracks before retiring.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Cottengaim of Mitchell; children, Wesley Cottengaim of Huron, Daniel Cottengaim of Mitchell, Tina (John) Middendorf of Guilford, and Deann Mallory of Edinburgh; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Irene T. Cottengaim of Mitchell.

His parents and siblings, Glen Cottengaim, David Cottengaim, Donald Cottengaim, Menlo Cottengaim, and Flossie Dryer, preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 3 in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Cremation to follow.
