On August 18, 2025, Heaven got a little brighter when Eunice Leona Hupp, age 89, passed peacefully at Stonebridge Health Campus.
Eunice was born on October 27, 1935, in Huntingburg, Indiana, to Virgil George and Grace Leona (Jeffries) Huntman. On June 7, 1956, she married Lee Roy Hupp, and for the next 69 years they proved that love really can last a lifetime.
A 1953 Jasper High School graduate, Eunice went on to work at Regal Beloit until retirement.
She gave her time, talents, and heart to many organizations, including the American Legion Post No. 250 Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107 Auxiliary, and Gamma Epsilon chapter of Tri Kappa. She was a devoted member of Mitchell Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School and even earned the title of Presbyterian Woman of the Year.
Eunice loved people, and people loved Eunice. Whether it was teaching, volunteering, or sharing stories around the dinner table, she had a way of making everyone feel welcome and loved.
She leaves behind her husband, Lee Hupp of Mitchell (currently residing at Stonebridge Health Campus); children Marvin Lee (Janelle) Hupp of Wisconsin, Dee Ann Hupp-Sanders of Bedford, and Mark E. (Lisa) Hupp of Georgia; along with 10 grandchildren, a whole lot of great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is reunited in Heaven with her parents; her daughter, Rhonda Joyce Atkinson; and siblings Marilyn Pfaff, Carol Crandell, Marvin Huntman, and Joyce Kempf.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 23, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Chaplain Byron Buker and Pastor Sarah Shields officiating.
Friends and family are invited to gather, share stories, and remember Eunice starting at 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
