ORLEANS – Evelyn Elizabeth Leonard, 99, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Stonebridge Health Campus.

Born November 19, 1926, in French Lick, she was the daughter of Fred and Ona (Nelson) Garrison.  She married Carl R. Leonard on October 20, 1946 and he preceded her in death November 8, 2008.

Evelyn graduated from French Lick High School. She received her nursing certificate and worked as a nurse’s aide at Dunn Hospital and Bedford Regional Medical Center.  Evelyn was a member of Englewood Baptist Church and a past member of the Gamma Epsilon Chapter of Tri Kappa.  Evelyn loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and was a loving caregiver.  She was a woman who showed grace and love like Jesus.

Surviving are her sons, William C. (Anna) Leonard of Orleans and Brad J. Leonard of Orleans; grandchildren, Nathanial Andrew Leonard, Christie Leonard, Angie Twigg, Andrea Phillips, Carl K. Leonard, Seth R. Leonard, Sara Leonard, Abby Leonard, Catlien Carrico, and Elizabeth Nikirk; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; special cousin, Bob Lashbrook of Orleans; niece, Darlene Parker of Bedford; nephew, Larry Leonard of Mitchell; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Her parents; husband; son, Brent D. Leonard; sister, Frances Lewis; and special cousin, Velta Lashbrook, preceded her in death.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 26, at Paoli Community Cemetery with Pastor Dave Ferry officiating.

    Bill, Brad, Larry; Peace and comfort for the passing of your mom and aunt. Evelyn was the last living parent of the original Pleasant View Drive moms and dads. It was a wonderful place to grow up at, and Evelyn was a mom who was a quiet nurturer of all us kids. I will always respect those parents who made up the “village” of Pleasant View.
