MITCHELL – Evelyn “Maxine” Worley, was born April 25, 1924, in Mitchell to Rice and Grace (Barlow) Blackerby. She married Elmer “Tony” Worley February 8, 1947, and he preceded her in death January 14, 2010, after 63 years of marriage.
She went to her eternal resting home on December 27, 2019, surrounded by family at her daughter’s home.

She was predeceased by parents; husband; son-in-law, Pete Tardiff; and siblings, Ray Blackerby, Earl Blackerby, Marie Sebastian, and Nelson Blackerby.
Maxine enjoyed tending to her flowers, camping, canning fresh vegetables, and quilting. For her 90th birthday, she made each of her daughters a quilt.
Maxine stayed home caring for her daughters until the last one started school, at which time she started working at RCA in Bloomington where she worked until her retirement in 1979.
Maxine was a devoted mother who never missed a cheerleading event, baton twirling event and all things her girls participated in. Maxine was a loving mother and wonderful grandmother to all of her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to extend special thank you to Gina Barisano, Beth Collins, Heart to Heart Hospice, and special Hospice Nurse, Korina Dusard, as well as life-long friend Danny Blevins, who kept her supplied with all the fresh green beans she canned.
In honor of our mother, you will be seeing lots of the color red at her celebration of life, as red was her favorite color.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Brother Jerry Allen officiating. Burial will be Mitchell Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
