MITCHELL – Frances Luella Russell, 77, passed away Friday, March 12, 2021, at the home of her daughter.
Born December 21, 1943, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Curtis and Dessie (Owen) Ray. She married William David Russell February 29, 1960, and he preceded her in death January 26, 2019.
She was a homemaker and had been a cook and teacher at Head Start. Luella was an active member of the Bride of Christ Fellowship where she played piano and assisted with funeral dinners. She was a member of the Bread of Life Ministries and American Legion Post No. 250 Auxiliary.
Luella enjoyed gardening and flowers, especially her roses. She loved picking persimmons and selling pulp. Luella was a great catfish cook.

Her parents; husband; siblings, Bill Burton, Lois White, and Marlene Early; and great-grandson, Silas Gaines, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, at the Bride of Christ Fellowship with Brother Jerry Allen officiating. Burial will be in Sheeks Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center, and from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Tuesday at the church.
