ORLEANS Frances Mae Tharpe, 84, Orleans, passed away at 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at Bloomington Hospital.
Born August 21, 1926, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of John F. and Orpha B. (Abney) White. She was married to Luther E. Tharpe January 19, 1942 and he preceded her in death September 29, 1976.
She was a homemaker, nurse’s aide, and a member of the Church of the First Born. She enjoyed children, church, and going out to eat.

Her parents; husband; daughter, Rachelle J. Brooks; sons, John E. Tharpe and Luke E. Tharpe; sisters, Betty Jean White, Ruby W. Langley, and Dorothy May White; and brothers, Millard Fowler White and John D. White, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 1, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Brother Stan White officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Horeb Cemetery.
