Fred Ellis HollingsworthPassing: April 12, 2005

HURON Fred Ellis Hollingsworth, 89, Huron, passed away at 2:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, at his residence.

Born January 27, 1916, in Wilmington, North Carolina, he was the son of Fred Owens and Pearl (Rouse) Hollingsworth.

He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, served as a carpenters mate on a torpedo ship in the Pacific, and was a member of the Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250.

He retired from Naval Surface Warfare CenterCrane in 1968, and for more than 50 years had been a farmer in Lawrence County. He was a generous giving man.

Surviving: brother, William Hollingsworth, Florida

His parents and wife, Margie, preceded him in death.

Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 14, at Huron Cemetery with Curt Wells officiating. Members of Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107 will accord military honors.
