MITCHELL – George Edward Fox, 72, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2025, at his residence.

Born January 10, 1953, in Bedford, he was the son of Lawrence George and Frances (Tincher) Fox.  He married Linda Lue Garrison on September 28, 1972 and she survives.  They were married for 53 years.

George was a foreman at Contech Engineered Solutions and retired after over 30 years.  He had also at one time owned and operated Fox Locksmith.  George was a 20 year veteran of the Indiana Army National Guard.  He was known as the “Tractor Guy” – he was president of the Tri County Tractor Club, and loved working on and refurbishing tractors.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Lue Fox of Mitchell; children, Rob (Tammy) Fox of Utah, Melissa Graves of Florida, and Scott Mills of Mitchell; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and siblings, Linda (Tom) Cromwell of French Lick, Vicki (Garry) McPherson of Williams, Juanita Green of Livonia, Debbie Hall of Paoli, Joe Fox of Mitchell, and Richard Schofield of Mitchell.

His parents and son, James “Jr.” Mills, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 4, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Dan Robertson officiating.  Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.  Burial will be in Freedom Cemetery.

After the service there will be a Celebration of Life at Robinson Auction Barn.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Thursday at the funeral home.

    My uncle George was a great guy he loved working on tractors and old cars and pickup trucks he loved drinking coffee and used to carry a toothpick in his mouth for years he always keep himself busy didn't like to sit around always helping others and loved his cats and the tow truck he will be missed greatly
