MITCHELL – George Raymond Simons II, 59, Mitchell, passed away at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at Brookside Village in Jasper following a hard fought battle with cancer.
Born April 26, 1947, in Danville, Illinois, he was the son of George Raymond and Wanda Lee (Cowell) Simons. He married Sharon Sowards May 6, 1967.
He was a marketing supervisor for Hoosier Energy and a 1969 graduate of the University of Kentucky. He was a member of the Mitchell First Baptist Church and was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow. He enjoyed University of Kentucky basketball, hunting, and fishing.

His father preceded him in death March 2, 2006.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 20, at the First Baptist Church with Reverend Mark Pittman officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Chastain Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the church.
