BEDFORD – Gerda Chastain, 78, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at St. Vincent Heart Center in Indianpolis.

Born October 15, 1940, in Berlin, Germany, she was the daughter of Herman Otto and Margarete Plagemann.  She married Walter Chastain December 8, 1961, and he preceded her in death November 29, 2014.

Gerda was a hostess over 27 years at Golden Gables.  She was an avid bingo player and loved her children.

Blake Stoup, Justin Sizemore, Cole Sizemore, and Jessica Arthur

Her parents; husband; and daughter, Carola Foster, preceded her in death.

Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 25, at Mitchell Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. Monday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
