MITCHELL – Gerry L. Tincher, 77, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital.
Born July 15, 1947, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Curtis and Iva (Chapman) Tincher.
Gerry was a 1965 graduate of Mitchell High School. He worked at Carpenter Body Works, where he was an active union member. Gerry then retired from General Electric and Indiana Limestone. He was a member of NRA, an avid outdoorsman and hunter, and later in life enjoyed watching the deer from his porch. Gerry was an IU basketball fan and loved his dog, Patches, who rode with him everywhere.
Survivors include his daughters, Dianna Lea (Brian) Randolph of Mitchell and Cheryl (AJ) Johnson of Mitchell; grandchildren, Jordan Randolph, Morgan (Brad) Luttrell, Emma (Austin Reynolds) Purtlebaugh, and Ike Johnson; great grandchildren, Caroline, Rhett, and Colby; sister, Doris Sheeks of Mitchell; and companion, Traci Horner of Mitchell.
His parents; grandson, Jarrod Randolph; siblings, Mae Lou Howard, Roy D. Tincher, Phillip Tincher, and Daniel C. Tincher, preceded him in death.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 20, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Dwight Dunbar officiating. Burial will follow at Port Williams Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.
