MITCHELL – Gladys Isom, 87, Mitchell, passed away at 8:05 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2007, at Hickory Creek Nursing Care in Rochester.
Born December 20, 1919, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of William and Lula (Price) Stevens, Sr. She married Stephen Escoe “Pete” Isom December 31, 1938, and he preceded her in death January 25, 2001.
She was a bank teller and retired from the Bank of Mitchell. She graduated from Mitchell High School in 1937, and was a member of the Lawrence County Homemakers Extension Club, Fleur-de-Lis, Prim Priscilla, and a 50-year member of Phi Beta Psi Sorority. She was an American Cancer Society volunteer and a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

Her parents; husband; sister, Kathryn Westfall; and brother, William (Bill) Stevens, Jr., preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 20, at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Eugene Pruett officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Baptist Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at Chastain Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Tuesday at the church.
