MITCHELL – Gretna Frances Daugherty, 87, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at her residence.
Born December 25, 1937, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Alfred and Ruth (Beasley) Johnson. She was married to David Daugherty for 24 years. Gretna later married William Wilson and he preceded her in death May 25, 2010 after being married for 28 years. She re-married David Daugherty in June 2012 and he survives.
Gretna was a 1956 graduate of Mitchell High School and worked for many years at Mitchell Optical. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, and painting. Gretna loved to decorate her home and cook for her family.
Surviving are her husband, David Daugherty of Mitchell; children, Kevin (Rita) Daugherty of Bedford, Jeff (Sonya) Daugherty of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, and Denise (Mike) LaGrange of Fishers; grandchildren, Kaytlin Daugherty, Sara Martin, Kyrsten Daugherty, Carissa (Eli) Cox, Abby (Andy) Foist, Eric (Courtney) Grow, and Alex Grow; and siblings, Betty Kinder, Agatha (Richard) Tandy, and Carl (Carol) Johnson.
Her parents; husband, William Wilson; and siblings, Carolyn Mullins and Kenneth Johnson, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 28, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Paul Scott officiating. Burial will be in Lawrenceport Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home.
